The Miami Hurricanes are ready to have a successful 2026 campaign. A couple of players joined the media to discuss training camp and what they are seeing with the team so far.
Hurricanes wide receiver Malachi Toney is seeking to have a much more aggressive season. During the interview, he praised the defensive backs.
“The entire DB room is great,” Toney said. “You got guys that are in the process of mastering their craft. I feel like we got the best DB room in the country. So going up against those guys makes it easy for us on Saturday.”
Toney feels more prepared going into training camp this season. He has learned from last season, and it has shaped him into a stronger mental player. Toney is also a player who cares a lot about his community and tries to set a great example to the kids in the community.
Toney grew up watching great wide receivers such as Julio Jones and Antonio Brown. Toney tries to take from each of those receivers and more and apply it to his skill set.
Ahmad Moren Sr has been rehabbing and didn’t get to compete in the spring with his teammates. Moren felt bittersweet about the whole experience, but he’s in good spirits moving forward.
“It was like a bittersweet moment,” Moren said. “We lost in the natty. I couldn’t go back out there, but it’s okay. I got to see what type of group we had, what type of guys we had, young guys stepping up. I’m watching film every day with the coaches, seeing what type of team we got, and I really believe we got guys on this team that can help us win.”
Moren feels amazing. The depth of this defense is superb. Every day, their defense is improving in the off-season. Rueben Bain Jr and other guys may no longer be on the team, but this team is loaded with talent.
It’s national championship or bust for the Hurricanes. They came close to winning the championship over the Indiana Hoosiers. On paper, the Hurricanes got better. The focus and leadership have grown from last season.
