Uber CEO Dara Khosroshahi shares his thoughts on the company’s second-quarter earnings.
The fearless leader is content with how the company has executed—Khosroshahi is a CEO who never rests on his laurels and continues to find ways to elevate his company.
“The gross bookings of the company grew 22 percent,” Khosroshahi said. “It was actually an acceleration over Q1 of 22 percent. Revenue grew 14 percent, which is lower than gross bookings.”
“We had some wins as it relates to insurance,” Khosroshahi said. “One of the most significant causes of price increases in mobility in the U.S. have been insurance. There’s tort reform going on. Hopefully, it’s going to bring the cost of living down.”
Uber is trying to continue to strengthen consumer demand and how the economy impacts everything. Consumers remain the same in terms of tipping. Uber is not concerned with the direction of their company about labor and earnings. The CEO also encourages tipping 15 to 20 percent on a ride or a delivery. It’s all up to the customer.
Uber is planning to spend about $ 10 billion in the coming years.
“That’s an investment we’re making in the autonomous vehicle ecosystem,” Khosroshahi said. “AVS represents a very important future of mobility. We are partnering with the entire ecosystem. We’ve got partnerships with over 30 AV players.”
Since 2017, Khosroshahi has done a tremendous job as Uber’s leader. His business has thrived in more than 70 countries.
He grew up in Tarrytown, New York, and has spent countless years learning from every job he has had throughout his life. Khosroshahi has held high positions working for companies such as Expedia, The New York Times, Catalyst.org, and IAC.
