The St. John’s Red Storm overpowers Quinnipiac in the second half to earn their second win of the season, 96-73.
The Red Storm trailed after the first half, but in the second half, they outscored the Bobcats by 27 points. Their offense put on a clinic. The Johnnies finished the game with 61 points in the second half.
Junior guard RJ Luis Jr led the Johnnie’s with 24 points, 13 rebounds, two steals, and one block on 8-for-17 from the field. Deivon Smith added a double double with 13 points and ten assists.
Forward Brady Dunlap came up big time off the bench. Dunlap added 20 points and shot 5-for-7 from downtown.
Guard Ryan Mabrey led the Bobcats with 17 points and shot 5 of 10 from the field. Jaden Zimmerman added 11 points in 19 minutes off the bench.
The Johnnie’s outrebounded the Bobcats 43 to 31 and made 84 percent of their free throws.
St John’s next stop will be against Wagner on Nov 13th at 6:30 pm. The Johnnie’s are looking to go 3-0 in the season.
