The World Cup is the world’s largest sporting event. The decision is controversial and drew plenty of criticism from human rights groups.
Saudi Arabia was the only country to bid for the 2034 World Cup tournament.
That’s not the only news regarding the World Cup. Portugal, Spain, and Morocco will co-host the 2030 event.
The tournament’s first three games will be held in South America to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup. Uruguay became the first country to have the first World Cup event.
Saudi Arabia is planning to go far beyond Qatar’s efforts. Qatar 2022 was the first World Cup in the Northern Hemisphere winter, and it avoided summer temperatures.
Saudi Arabia plans to build 11 new stadiums as part of even more ambitious plans to transform the country’s infrastructure. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has high expectations for the government and wants to take things to another level.
The FIFA World Cup generates an enormous amount of revenue. The event could bring in as many as 11 billion from the 2026 event, which will take place in three different countries: U.S., Mexico and Canada.
The tournament continues to expand. There are 48 teams and 100 soccer matches, with the potential to reach 150 or 200 matches in the future.
One of Bin Salman’s thoughts is the “Neom plan.”
The Neom plan is an investment and construction project. It is considered to be huge and an integral part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The idea is to rapidly diversify Saudi Arabia economically, socially, and culturally.
