Tar Heels played outstanding defense, and their offense was potent, especially how they ended the first half.

The Tar Heels pulled away in the second half. UNC went on a 17-2 run. On Tuesday, they remained hungry, focused, and relentless on both ends of the floor.

After the game, Coach Hubert Davis spoke with the media and gave his thoughts about dominating the second half against the Golden Bears.

“Well, I thought the key in the second half in particular was with Seth, J-Wit, J-Washington and Ven-Allen,” Davis said. “I just felt Seth was off the chart. His energy, effort, and attention to detail. He was all over the place. He was getting rebounds, deflection, steals, running in transition, scoring at the basket, passing, and overall activity on both ends of the floor. They just made winning plays everywhere. And I just felt like those other three that I mentioned were the huge key for us to extend the lead in the second half. I was proud of their energy and effort. I told the team that that was the key in the second half.”

Ian Jackson led the team with 20 points. Elliot Cadeau added 15 points. Seth Trimble contributed 12 points.

The team continues to grow and mature in each game. It’s a matter of staying consistent and playing great Tar Heel basketball for 40 minutes.

If the Tar Heels can communicate better on the floor, they can become a great elite defensive team.

UNC’s next matchup will be against Stanford on Saturday.
