The longtime medical drama Grey’s Anatomy got renewed by ABC for a 23rd season.

Grey’s Anatomy continues to tell impeccable stories. There have been so many characters that have made their mark on the series. Showrunner Shonda Rhimes knows how to write a good show when she puts her heart and mind to it.

As good as Rhimes is as a Showrunner and writer, fans of the show have gotten angry at her for some of the storylines and for killing off beloved characters. Whether you’re a fan of her work or not, she delivers time and time again. Rhimes is also responsible for the hit show, Scandal.

As for Grey’s Anatomy, it’s the longest-running primetime medical drama on TV. Joining the show for renewal, ABC also picked up 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star. Of course, Abbott Elementary will be back for more seasons because it’s the most successful sitcom on ABC.

Grey’s Anatomy premiered on March 27, 2005. The show is set in Seattle, Washington, but it’s mostly shot in Los Angeles and Vancouver. Grey’s Anatomy won a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Drama and received 38 Primetime Emmy nominations.

Two cast members, Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver, recently announced their exits from the show. McKidd and Raver, who portray characters Owen Hunt and Teddy Altman, will make their final appearances in the Season 22 finale.

Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr. are the only three remaining cast members from the original cast when the show debuted in 2005. Pompeo is not only the lead actress of the show but also the main narrator, in addition to being an executive producer.

We don’t know how long Grey’s Anatomy will continue. The show continues to be the No. 1 most-streamed series, especially on platforms like Disney+ and Hulu. Whenever Grey’s Anatomy ends, the final episode is going to break records.
