On Tuesday night, the Cincinnati Reds were outplayed by one of the best teams in the MLB right now, the Miami Marlins, 12-2.

Eury Perez, one of the best pitchers on the Marlins roster, earned his second win after recording eight strikeouts through five innings. The Marlins erupted with seven runs in the third inning. Nick Martinez earned the loss after allowing 10 earned runs and seven hits through five innings.

Matt McClain hit his 11th home run of the season in the first inning. It was the only spark the Reds had all night long. The Reds left eight men on base and went 2-for-7 on runners in scoring position.

The Marlins have been a very good road team lately and are playing some outstanding baseball. Pérez, who had Tommy John Surgery, looked like a man who has been playing in the pros for years. He looked sharp and poised, and the Reds’ offense had no answer for him.

The Reds’ offense had just five hits, three walks, and struck out 13 times. The Reds are now 46-46. They will try to end their losing streak tonight against the Marlins’ ace, Sandy Alcantara (4-8, 7.01 ERA).

Alcantara may be struggling, but he’s still a top pitcher who shouldn’t be underestimated. As for the Reds, they will need another solid performance from

Andrew Abbott (7-1, 2.15 ERA) has been sensational for the Reds’ roster.
