The Tampa Bay Rays had no answer for the Boston Red Sox as they fell to the red-hot Red Sox 4-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Red Sox swept the Rays to end the first half of the season.

The Red Sox have won 10 in a row. Bryan Bello slowed down the Rays through six innings, recorded five strikeouts, and allowed no walks. Rays starter Ryan Pepiot allowed three earned runs through six innings.

The Rays’ offense looked horrendous in this series against the Red Sox. The team didn’t look like it was playing with joy; it looked like it was in survival mode.

The Rays have been having a lousy series, which began against the Minnesota Twins, followed by the Detroit Tigers, and now they were outplayed in a three-game series against the Red Sox.

The upside is that they will have several rest days at the right time because the team looks out of sync. Making errors, bad base running, and seeing bad pitches. On top of that, their bullpen has been inconsistent.

Josh Lowe broke the Rays’ 18-inning scoreless stretch with an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.

When the Rays return after the All-Star break, they will begin their second half of the season with Rays right-hander Taj Bradley (5-6, 4.60 ERA) taking the mound against the struggling Baltimore Orioles next Friday.
