Former Miami Dolphins and Veteran safety Jordan Poyer signs with the Buffalo Bills.

Poyer played 16 games for the Dolphins last season. He was selected as the seventh round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles out of Oregon State.

During his time at Oregon State, he earned Consensus All-American honors and First-team All-PAC 12 honors in 2012. After being drafted by the Eagles, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns, where he spent three seasons.

When he landed in Buffalo during his first stint, he began to have individual success. Poyer made First-team All-Pro in 2021 and was named to his first career Pro Bowl in 2022. In 2021, he had a career-high $8)$ 5 interceptions for 87 yards. Since 2016, Poyer has been one of the most durable players in the NFL.

Poyer is highly motivated and excited to return to Buffalo. He knows the defense and coaches very well. Poyer’s signing with the Bills will boost Miami since Buffalo is their division rival. The Dolphins players were probably expecting something different from Poyer.

Overall, Poyer will try to recreate his success with the Bulls a few years ago by being a strong defensive presence on the field. Although he’s 34 years old and past his prime, some players tend to thrive well with one organization compared to other teams they play for.

The Miami experience didn’t pan out for Poyer, but it could work out again with the Bills.

The Dolphins will travel to Buffalo for their first matchup on Sunday, September 18, at 8:15 p.m. Their second meeting will be at Hard Rock Stadium on November 9th at 1 p.m.
