The trade that shocked the Dallas Cowboys nation. Defensive end Micah Parsons will play in a different uniform this season, with the Green Bay Packers.

Parsons is the newest member of the Packers. His defensive presence is a tremendous asset to the Packers organization, which is desperate for a player like Parsons. Green Bay fans must be cheering about this news.

As for Dallas, it’s a devastating loss. Negotiations have failed between Parsons and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. It’s been a summer filled with drama in the Cowboys organization. The heat between both camps was a serious situation.

Parsons will become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Parsons will sign a 4-year, $188 million extension deal with the Packers. He will receive 120 million guaranteed by the time he signs the contract.

The new deal will surpass Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt. Before Parsons, Watt held the title of the league’s highest-paid non-quarterback, but it only lasted about a month.

The Cowboys selected Parsons as the 12th overall in the 2021 draft. In his four seasons with the Cowboys, he became one of the best players on the team. He earned three All-Pro Bowl selections and made four Pro Bowl appearances.

Where will the Cowboys go from here? The Cowboys haven’t been to the Super Bowl since 1995 and haven’t reached the NFC Championship Game since 1995.

Jones has been heavily critiqued by the media and the Cowboys fan base for years. With this news, the scrutiny will get louder and more assertive. Jones is strong-willed and can take criticism, but there hasn’t been any winning happening in Dallas in a long time.

The NFC East is already tough, with the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington being really good teams compared to Dallas. The Cowboys do not look better than those teams on paper.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will have to carry a lot of the load, which will be unfair because he needs more help from the team in general, not just offensively.
