The first trailer for the long-awaited Michaelbiopic has officially dropped, and it looks like it could be one of the biggest musical films in years. Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training DayEmancipation), the film stars Jaafar Jackson, the youngest son of Jermaine Jackson, as the King of Pop himself.

From the very first frame, Michael promises an emotional and visually stunning journey through the life of one of the most iconic entertainers of all time. The story follows Jackson from his early childhood in Gary, Indiana, to his breakout with the Jackson 5, and eventually his meteoric rise to global superstardom.

What stands out most from the trailer is Jaafar Jackson’s uncanny embodiment of his legendary uncle. From the dance moves and vocal tone to the subtle mannerisms that defined Michael’s stage presence, Jaafar seems to have captured the essence of the King of Pop in every way possible.

The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Miles Teller, Colman Domingo, Nia Long, and Kat Graham. Behind the scenes, however, the film has faced its fair share of challenges, legal complications, multiple reshoots, and shifting release dates. Yet despite the turbulence, anticipation for this film has only grown stronger.

Biopics have become a powerful trend in Hollywood, with films like Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody reigniting interest in legendary musicians. With projects about Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and The Beatles on the way, Michael stands out as one of the most ambitious of them all, a chance to explore the brilliance, controversy, and humanity of a man who lived his life under the world’s brightest spotlight.

Michael moonwalks into theaters on April 24, 2026.
