The Arizona Cardinals fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-17 on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. Their record is now 3-9, and it’s their fourth loss on the road this season.
Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 29 of his 40 completions to go with 301 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. In the first half, the Cardinals’ offense wasn’t clicking, but then in the second half, they got into rhythm and made better plays.
“I think we just settled down,” Brissett told the media. “The bad part is you can’t beat a good team like that, you can’t wait until the second half. I think we had like 16, 20 plays or something like that in the first half. I think our in-and-out of the huddle got better. My communication with the guys improved. It’s just we got to clean up those little things.”
Tight end Trey McBride caught eight receptions for 82 yards with one touchdown, which came in the fourth quarter with 4:58 remaining.
Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr finished the game with six receptions for 69 yards. The Cardinals lost another close game, and Harrison Jr believes it comes down to execution.
“Always comes down to execution,” Harrison Jr told the media after the game. “Whether a play here, offense got to make, defense, special teams, we just need to start finding ways to make one extra play than other teams.”
Bam Knight added three receptions with 36 yards and a touchdown that came in the third quarter. Michael Carter had five receptions for 47 yards. Carter also rushed for 17 yards on five carries.
Linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither led the Cardinals’ defense with his playmaking abilities. He made 10 tackles for the team. Cody Simon and Budda Baker each had nine tackles.
The Buccaneers’ defense held the Cardinals’ run game to just 95 yards. The Cardinals went 3-for-8 on third down efficiency and 0-for-2 on fourth down plays.
The Cardinals will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, December 7, at 4:25 pm.
