Billionaire entrepreneur and NASA administrator nominee Jared Isaacman said the clock is ticking for America to win the space race.

“This is not the time for delay but a time for action,” Isaacman said. “If we fall behind, if we make a mistake, we may never catch up, and the consequences could shift the balance of power here on earth.”

His commitment can’t be denied. He’s earnest about this subject. NASA can’t drop the ball and take its eyes off the prize. The United States is the most powerful and most prosperous country on earth. When it comes to space, they must remain the top leader.

The moon and stars are a top priority for the tech billionaire. During the meeting with the committee, Isaacman expressed that NASA will go with the first company capable of delivering U.S. astronauts to the lunar surface.

In terms of companies, Isaacman was referring to Blue Origin, which is led by billionaire Jeff Bezos, and SpaceX, run by Elon Musk. At this point, Musk is ahead of Bezos. SpaceX might be the company to bring it home.

Jared and Elon don’t seem to be friends. There could be a mutual respect between them, but they don’t dislike each other either. Regardless, both men have been successful in their careers.

Isaacman has been in talks with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who has been filling in as NASA’s acting administrator since the summer. Jared supports Sean’s decision to reopen the contract for the lunar lander under NASA’s Artemis program.

Isaacman is 42 and the founder and chairman of Shift4 Payments. Through Jared’s leadership, he has done an impressive job of advancing competition in the space industry. He believes that open competition is good. Isaacman was renominated a couple of days ago to serve as NASA administrator.
