The Demise of the Superstar

Prince was a brilliant musician, versatile, and arguably the “King of Pop.” We love Michael Jackson, but Prince just had more tools. Overall, we were blessed to have both of them to show what real entertainment is all about.

A new book, “Nothing Compares 2 U; An Oral History of Prince,” by journalist Toure, who became known for his interview with R. Kelly, reveals Prince’s injury and health that led to his demise.

There was an accident that changed everything for the musician. Prince was rehearsing a song from inside in a bathtub suspended about 10 feet or more in the Civic Center. The set-piece broke, “sending Prince hurtling to the floor,” reports the New York Post.

Prince injured his back and his knee. These injuries most likely led Prince to addiction that killed him. Prince died on April 21st, 2016, from an accidental overdose of the synthetic opioid fentanyl.

“Nothing Compares 2 U; An Oral History of Prince” will be released today.

Titans Coach Mike Vrabel Tested Positive

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the New York Post, Vrabel told reporters that he woke up with a sore throat and an earache. Ugh! That’s a bad combination.

Under NFL protocols, Vrabel must have two negative test results within 48 hours to get back to work with the Titans, or he would have to be in quarantine for ten days.

Tigers Announcer Suspended

We live in sensitive times. Political correctness and cancel culture are out of control. It gets very tiring and annoying when people get offended by any little thing. However, in this case, it’s understandable, and Jack Morris should’ve thought about this more carefully before doing so.

Detroit Tigers announcer Jack Morris made some comments last week about Angels star Shotei Ohtani. Morris stereotyped a Japanese accent on a Tigers-Angels broadcast. Morris apologized, but it wasn’t enough. The 66-year old is suspended indefinitely, and we will have him undergo sensitivity training.

Sensitivity training? Sensitivity training? Really? Are we going that over the top? Suspending him was enough punishment, but a “sensitivity training” for a man in his 60s doesn’t make total sense. Have players in the past received this level of punishment for insensitive comments? I don’t think so. If this is the case, you have to look at everything and discipline everyone the same way. It doesn’t matter what level of stature they may have.

Hopefully, Jack Morris learns from this experience.

Ice-T Friend Shot Dead

Rapper and Actor Ice-T is mourning the death of his friend. Ice-T’s friend Joseph “Taheim” Bryan was killed at 11:15pm Thursday in Long Island City, Queens.

Bryan was 50 years old when he was gunned down outside the Jackson Park luxury apartment complex. There’s not enough reason why he was killed. The case is far from over as we wait for more information on what caused Bryan’s death.

Cannonier and Gastelum

A middleweight fight will take place tonight in Las Vegas. Jared Cannonier will go up against Kelvin Gastelum.

One of the biggest challenges of Gastelum’s career. Why? He must prove to everyone that he’s still a force to be reckoned with in the ring. Gastelum has lost four of his last five bouts, but regardless of those losses, Gastelum is still a bad man, and it would be wrong to underestimate him.

Cannonier will need to use his explosiveness, power, and striking to have the edge over Gastelum to walk away with a victory tonight.

UFC is such an exciting sport, isn’t it? We are hoping to see a great fight.

Henrik Lundqvist Retires After 15 Years

Former New York Rangers Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has announced his retirement, ending a legendary 15-year NHL career.

Lundqvist retires with a record of 459-310-96 in 887 career NHL games, with a save percentage of .918, a 2.43 goals-against average, and 64 shutouts. He is the Rangers’ franchise leader in all those categories.

Sadly, Henrik didn’t win a Stanley Cup with the Rangers. His best chance to win a Stanley Cup was from 2012-2015. Teams like the New Jersey Devils, Los Angeles Kings, and Tampa Bay Lightning got in the way of Henrik to have a ring. He was terrific for the Rangers. When many thought about who would replace Mike Richter, it was Henrik Lundqvist who took his place. Henrik will forever be a beloved Ranger because of his hard work and tenacity. The city of New York should feel a lot of gratitude that Henrik played for the blue, white, and red uniform. We will also never forget his incredible fashion style.

Lundqvist ranks sixth in NHL history in wins, seventh in saves (23,509), eighth in games played (887), ninth in starts (871), ninth in time on ice (51,816:51), and 17th in shutouts.

Thank you, Henrik Lundqvist!

MLB and Topps Partnership Will End

it’s true! Reality is sinking in. Major League Baseball and Topps Co. are ending their longtime partnership. The partnership between MLB and Topps spans 70 years since the 1950s.

This will be absolutely devastating for Topps. When you have a long partnership with someone, you never want to see it come to an end. The fact is that nothing lasts forever.

Major League Baseball Players Association and Fanatics will start working together in 2023.
