Formula Vol. 3 – Album Review

Romeo Santos released his anticipated album “Formula Vol. 3.” He released Formula Vol. 1 in 2012 and Formula Vol. 2 in 2014. The album will be the year’s album for the Bachata and Latin genre for next year’s award season. One of Romeo’s greatest assets is that he’s a phenomenal songwriter. If you watch his documentary on HBO Max, the man is a perfectionist in making music. No wonder he’s an all-time great artist.

Favorite Songs:

Solo Conmigo

Sin Fin featuring Justin Timberlake – the chorus does it for me. This collaboration caught me off guard. But I’m glad it happened. He does an excellent job of singing the hook and balancing his vocals well with Romeo’s vocals.

Suegra– is one of the most beautiful songs to dedicate to your mother-in-law. It’s rare to hear a song about a mother-in-law. I love the production has an old-school bachata feel to it. I love the old school sound more than the new school. So it made me appreciate this track even more.

• The Skit is hilarious with the caller calling Romeo and telling him that he wants to hear something new and fresh. His voice made the skit funny.

* El Pañuelo – this is a great collaboration begeeen Romeo and Rosalia. Rosalia has an angelic voice. I love that she started this song with her singing ability. This is one of those songs where Rosalia sounded excellent, in my opinion. Singing the hook with Romeo elevated the power of this song.

• “Mar” – it’s probably my favorite track on the album. It’s one of the best romantic songs on the album. The sound of the guitar was well placed and executed perfectly. The hook is catchy. The lyricism is phenomenal. It’s a 5-star song.

• “Nirvana” – is a song talking about god and blessings.

Not so impressed

La Ultima Vez – one of the biggest surprises to me was the collaboration with Luis Miguel Del Amargue, a veteran in the Bachata game. Two of my favorite songs from him are “De Rodilla te Pido” and “Abrazame Amor.” However, this song didn’t catch my attention, and I expected a little more from these two great artists.

Overall, I give this album a 4.4 out of 5 stars.
