Unstoppable, one of the latest movies set to premiere in 2024, will feature an unexpected yet exciting casting of Jennifer Lopez and Jharrel Jerome. The film, produced by Lopez’s husband, Ben Affleck, is based on the inspiring life of wrestler Anthony Robles, a role that Jerome will bring to life. Unstoppable is scheduled to debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Amazon MGM Studios, the film’s distributors, have recently unveiled the first-look images of the William Goldenberg-directed film. The story follows Anthony, a young man who was born with one leg. He inspired many people when he won the national championship in 2011 at Arizona State University. Lopez’s portrayal of Anthony’s mother, Judy, is a powerful and moving performance. The cast is solid, with Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, and Don Cheadle joining Lopez and Jerome.
Cannavale has always been an actor that can deliver a supporting role. He is portrayed as Robles/ father in the movies as Rick. Michael Peña will be portraying coach Bobby Williams, and Don Cheadle will portray wrestling coach Shawn Charles.
Artists Equity, the production company owned by best friends Affleck and Matt Damon, instills confidence in any project they undertake. With a strong track record in the business, their involvement in this biopic, based on Robles and Murphy’s book ‘Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion, ‘promises a compelling film.
Jerome won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series as the leading role for When They See US. The 26-year-old became the first Afro-Dominican to win an Emmy. Jerome and Lopez have a connection because they are from the Bronx. We hope their performances in this movie will leave us satisfied. Unstoppable will hit the theaters in December.
