Creighton Blue Jays has done it again. The Blue Jays defeated No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks 76-63 on Wednesday night at the CHI Health Center in Omaha in the Big 12-Big East Battle.
It’s the team’s second win against a No. 1 rank team in school history.
First, it was against UConn Huskies. Now, it’s the Jayhawks. All came in 2024.
Blue Jays coach Greg McDermott made the most epic comment after the game when he got interviewed.
“This is the building that No. 1 teams go to die eventually,” said McDermott.

The Blue Jays led the entire way. Their big man, Ryan Kalkbrenner, returned from injury and finished with a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. Kalkbreener outplayed and outshined Jayhawks’ big man and All-American Hunter Dickinson.
“Both teams, Kansas and UConn, are high-level programs,” Kalkbrenner said. “Execute the game plan and play at a high level. You feel good about those wins; you can take and learn from them moving forward.”
Pop Isaacs led the Blue Jays with 27 points while shooting 6-of-9 from the 3-point line.
He attended the postgame conference with Kalkbrenner and McDermott and discussed his experience with the electric atmosphere in the arena.
“I haven’t had quite a moment like that in college yet,” Isaacs said. “It was dope. I haven’t played against the number-one team in the country yet. I played against two and three. I was just hyped. The atmosphere was great tonight, and the arena had a great vibe. The students showed up; the fans showed out. It was just electric in there.”
The Blue Jays improved to 6-3 in the season.
