Zoe Saldaña won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Netflix film Emilia Perez.

The victory marked the first Golden Globe of her career. Saldaña gave a tremendous performance by signing and rapping in Spanish despite having no prior experience in rapping.

During her speech at the Golden Globes, she was very emotional—Saldaña revealed after her speech about her battle with Dyslexia.

In an interview with Extra TV, Saldaña explained about her Dyslexia situation.

“That was the reason why I was having so much anxiety,” Saldaña said. “It was days coming up to this award ceremony because I know that when adrenaline kicks in and nerves kick in, you stop breathing, and you just stop breathing and you just go blank, and I was just so afraid of not recognizing people, acknowledging people on stage that are responsible for me being here.”

Saldaña has credit and is thankful to her co-stars for their hard work, admiration, and collaboration. She understands they’re all in competition, but that’s not her primary motivation.

Saldaña has come a long way as an actress. Ever since her performance in 2002 Drumline, her career blossomed year by year.

She has worked with extraordinary directors like J.J. Abrams and James Cameron. Saldaña became part of big films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Trek, and Avatar.

After her Golden Globe win, she’s carrying momentum and could earn her first Academy Award.
