Edmonton Oilers squandered a 2-0 lead to the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday at Rogers Place Arena.

Dylan Larkin tied the game at 2-2 in the second period and scored the game-winning goal in a shootout to give the Red Wings their fourth straight win of the year.

Leon Draisaitl scored his 36th goal of the season when he put the Oilers on the board in the first period. Jeff Skinner would follow up with a goal of his in the same period. It’s Skinner’s 9th goal of the year.

The Red Wings scored two goals in less than three minutes in the second period. The Oilers’ poor execution and defense contributed to the loss.

Red Wings goalie Alex Lyon helped the team steal this game from the Oilers. Lyon made 45 saves. As for Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner, he made 32 saves.

It’s a big comeback win for the Red Wings—an excellent effort against a fantastic, talented team in the Oilers. Lyon is undoubtedly the player of the game.

Red Wings will continue their road trip as they will face the Calgary Flames on Saturday. Oilers will remain home to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on the same day.
