The Miami Hurricanes baseball team lost a heartbreaking game to the Florida International University Panthers 5-4 in the 10th inning.

The Hurricanes trailed 3-0 early in the game when the Panthers scored three runs in the third inning. Javier Crespo started things for the Panthers when he drove in the first run. Andrew Lisefonso would join in and add two RBIs.

The Hurricanes answered with three runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning. Freshman Michael Torres put the Hurricanes on the board with a grounder single to center field. Daniel Cuvet recorded the second run for the Hurricanes. Cuvet is second in the ACC with 50 RBIs.

Jake Ogden would score the game-tying run after he took advantage of a play that didn’t go in the Panther’s way.

The Panthers regained the lead in the sixth inning, and the Hurricanes tied the game again in the top of the ninth inning.

In the bottom of the tenth, with bases loaded, Brylan West won the game for the Panthers with a game-winning RBI to third base. It’s West’s first career walk-off win.

The Hurricanes fall to 24-18 in the season. They will start a three-game weekend series on the road against Boston College beginning on Friday.
