Cincinnati Reds’ center fielder TJ Friedl belted two home runs to lead the Reds to a 4-3 win over the Atlanta Braves.
The Reds snapped a four-game losing streak and reached the .500 mark (19-19). However, despite the Resa’s win, it was overshadowed by Reds ace Hunter Greene’s injury.
Greene left the game in the bottom of the third inning. Greene is expected to have an MRI today. The Reds hope that Greene won’t miss so much playing time.
Before the injury, Greene pitched sensationally, striking out six Braves batters and giving up just two hits without a run. Greene didn’t look like he felt any pain. Let’s hope there’s nothing wrong. We will be tuning in for more details later today.
The 25-year-old has a 4-2 record with a 2.36 ERA. Greene made his first All-Star appearance last season.
If Greene ends up missing some starts, who is going to step up to replace Greene? Those are some pretty big shoes to fill. Manager Terry Francona has a heavy task before him, but it’s Tito. He will figure out a way to galvanize his team.
In terms of Wednesday’s game, Emilio Pagan earned his ninth save of the season. Pagan redeemed himself after blowing a save two nights ago when the Braves won 2-1 in the 10th inning after a game-winning hit by Marcell Ozuna.
The Braves rallied after trailing 4-0, but the Reds’ bullpen sealed the deal.
Nick Lodolo (3-3, 3.27 ERA) will take the mound for the Reds against Spencer Schwellenbach (1-3, 3.92 ERA) at 7:15 pm EST.
Lodolo must step up for the Reds. Now it’s time for him to be consistent and not be a streaky pitcher. Lodolo has great pitching selections. He needs to start dominating the game and impacting the rotation.
