The Boston Celtics traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks in a 3-team trade deal.
The Hawks will receive Porzingis and a 2025 second-round pick. The Brooklyn Nets will receive Terance Mann and a No. 22 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The Nets have five first-round picks.
The Celtics will receive Georges Niang and a 2025 second-round pick. They also recently traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Anfernee Simons.
Porzingis will be joining his fourth different NBA team in his career. He and Trae Young can become a solid duo if he stays healthy.
Whit Merrifield Announces Retirement
It’s the retirement we didn’t expect or see coming. The 36-year-old and three-time All-Star Whit Merrifield announced his retirement from baseball.
Merrifield played for four teams: the Kansas City Royals, the Toronto Blue Jays, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Atlanta Braves. He found most of his success with the Royals.
Merrifield felt bad about his performance in Philly and apologized to the fans for not producing during his time there. Merrifield played 53 games for the Phillies last year and batted just .199/.277/.295 with 19 strikeouts.
He finished his career with 94 home runs, 1,249 hits, and a .280 batting average.
