The Cincinnati Reds rallied to beat the New York Yankees 5-4 in extra innings on a night when starter Chase Burns made his impressive MLB debut Tuesday night.

Burns got off to a strong start after striking out the first three Yankee hitters, one of them being Aaron Judge. Burns would record three more strikeouts in the second inning.

Ben Rice hit a slider pitch off Butns to put the Yankees on the board in the top of the fourth inning. After he gave up the home run, the Yankees began to figure him out. Judge got a hit, Jazz Chisholm Je got a hit, and Anthony Volpe delivered a 2-run double to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.

Burns finished his debut with eight strikeouts through five innings of work.

The Reds’ offense woke up in the bottom of the seventh inning. With bases loaded, Christian Encarnacion-Strand cleared the bases by hitting a three-run double to left field to tie the game 3-3.

In the top of the 11th inning, Judge scored on a wild pitch to put the Yankees on top 4-3.

In the bottom of the 11th, with runners on first and third, Spencer Steer singled to center field to tie the game 4-4. After a wild pitch to move up the runners, Gavin Lux, the pinch hitter, delivered the game-winning hit to right center field to bring Elly De La Cruz home.

The Reds are now 42-38 in the season. On Wednesday, Brady Singer (7-5, 4.13 ERA) will pitch against Max Fried (9-2, 2.05 ERA).
