Rays Prevail Over Tigers: Key Moments from the Comeback

By Miguel Mike Medina

The Tampa Bay Rays avoided the sweep and defeated the Detroit Tigers 7-3 on Wednesday afternoon.

Rays scoring four runs in the sixth inning was huge. This team has struggled with men on base, and the Rays came through. It was only the Rays’ fourth win in their past 12 games. The Rays are looking to end the first half with some good momentum.

Ha-Seong Kim, Taylor Walls, Danny Jansen, and Yandy Diaz all came through clutch for the Rays in the sixth inning. No home runs. All of them put the ball in play. Jonathan Aranda went 3-for-4 in this game without an RBI. He’s been great this season for the Rays.

Junior Caminero, one of the participants for the Home Run Derby, got started with the completion after hitting a home run to left field in the seventh inning to make it 7-3.

Rays starter Zack Littell gave up three runs over 5 2/3 innings. The Rays’ bullpen hasn’t been impressive lately, but they held up their end on Wednesday. Their bullpen didn’t give up a run, which was a relief.

The Rays will play the Boston Red Sox to end their first half of the season. Wednesday’s victory against the Tigers marked their 50th win of the season.

It was a great victory for the Rays, as they beat one of the best lineups in baseball. However, the Rays still need to avoid walking hitters.

The Rays will head to Fenway for a three-game series starting Thursday night. Taj Bradley will take the mound for the Rays against Walker Buehler. Rays are a game and a half over the Red Sox.
