Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene is back in business. Greene’s stellar performance and the Reds’ hitting propel them to shut out the Philadelphia Phillies 8-0 on Wednesday. The Reds took two out of three.

Greene made his first start since June 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Phillies are one of the best teams in the National League. The Phillies are built to make the World Series, and here is Greene coming back to the mound and shutting that formidable lineup out.

Greene tossed six strong innings with six strikeouts. The Reds’ pitching allowed just three hits. Greene earned his fifth win of the season and lowered his ERA to 2.47. His toughest inning was the sixth inning when there was a runner on third, but he struck out Bryce Harper to end the inning.

Miguel Andujar has been an enormous addition to the Reds’ lineup. He hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning. It’s his second home run as a member of the Reds. He is on a tear. Noelvi Marte hit a comical little league home run. Marte has two RBIs. The Reds capitalized on the Phillies’ defensive mistakes.

Austin Hays and Elly De La Cruz did a good job with their performance at the plate. Hays scored the first run of the game. De La Cruz was outstanding in the sense that he was hustling and putting the ball in play. He went 2-for-4.

The Reds’ lineup did a good job attacking Phillies starter Christopher Sanchez, who is one of the best pitchers in their rotation. Sanchez has an 11-4 record with a 2.45 ERA. Wednesday’s victory is one of the most impressive wins of the season. Terry Francona must be pleased with what he saw from his players.

The task gets tougher for the Reds. They will begin a three-game weekend series against the red-hot Milwaukee Brewers. It’s going to be a crucial series for the Reds as they must take advantage of this opportunity. Nick Martinez will take the mound for the Reds. The Reds are one game behind the New York Mets for the final spot in the wild card.
