Game 5 of the 2025 World Series delivered a commanding performance from the Toronto Blue Jays, who now stand one win away from their first championship since 1993. Facing the Dodgers in a series deadlocked at two games apiece, the Blue Jays leaned on stellar pitching and timely hitting to secure a 6–1 win on the road.
Starting Strong for Toronto
Toronto’s offense ignited in the very first inning, with Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. launching solo home runs to give the Jays a quick 2–0 lead. Guerrero Jr. continued to shine, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Bo Bichette and Isiah Kiner-Falefa added key RBI singles in the later innings to add to the lead.
Breakout Rookie
On the mound, rookie Trey Yesavage delivered a breakout performance, striking out 12 Dodgers over seven innings while allowing just one run and three hits. His dominance stifled a potent Dodgers lineup that had shown flashes of brilliance earlier in the series. The lone bright spot for Los Angeles came in the third inning when Enrique Hernández homered to left field, accounting for the team’s only run.
The Dodgers, who entered the game with hopes of regaining momentum before the series shifted back to Toronto, struggled to generate offense. Despite starting veteran Blake Snell, who had a solid season, the Dodgers could not contain Toronto’s bats or match their intensity at the plate, especially as the game went into the later innings.
Promising Conclusion
Toronto’s win not only gives them a 3–2 series advantage but also restores home-field control, with Game 6 and a potential Game 7 set to take place at Rogers Centre. Historically, teams that win Game 5 in a tied World Series go on to win the championship in five of the last seven instances—a promising omen for the Blue Jays.
As the series heads back to Toronto, the Dodgers face elimination and must regroup quickly to keep their title hopes alive. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are riding high on momentum, depth, and a balanced attack that has proven resilient throughout the postseason.
Game 6 promises drama and intensity, with Toronto looking to close out the series and Los Angeles fighting to extend it. One thing is certain: the 2025 World Series has lived up to its billing, and baseball fans are in for a thrilling conclusion.
