Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride shattered the NFL single-season record for most receptions by a tight end.
It’s been an era of disappointments and heartbreaking losses for the Cardinals. However, this Sunday, McBride gave the Cardinals fans something to cheer about. The record was previously held by Zach Ertz in 2008.
McBride is one of the best tight ends in the NFL and one of the most exciting personalities. We saw former wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald play his entire career with the Cardinals. McBride has the potential to follow the same footsteps.
Although the Cardinals lost yesterday’s game, McBride contributed by catching 10 passes for 76 yards and scoring one touchdown. The Cardinals are down to one game left to finish the regular season. Their season will come to an end when they face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18 at SoFi Stadium.
McBride currently has 119 receptions for 1,174 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. The Cardinals have a 3-13 record. Hopefully, they can draft some good players in the draft to help McBride and the rest of the Cardinals become contenders sooner rather than later. A talent like McBride can’t go to waste.
The Cardinals selected the 26-year-old McBride in the 2022 NFL Draft in the second round. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl twice in his career (2024, 2025).
The 2026 season will mark his fifth season with the Cardinals. He’s looking to have a third consecutive 1,000 receiving yard season. McBride must also score another 10-plus touchdowns next season. His 11 touchdowns this season mark his career high in his NFL career.
