The largest newspaper company in the state of Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, will shut down after losing $350 million over the last two decades.
It is a somber time for the state of Oennslyvajia and for everyone who has worked for the company. In addition, it’s a tough pill to swallow for the individuals who have supported the newspaper giant for years. The news comes as a surprise because the company has been around since 1786.
The company’s impeccable writing and news coverage have won the hearts of many people. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has gained many subscribers and was also awarded a prestigious honor, the Pulitzer Prize, in 2019.
Post-Gazette journalists have done a fantastic job throughout the year. The dedication and commitment have been unparalleled. Many journalists have moved on to bigger and better things in their careers, and it’s all credited to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The newspaper giant has been an excellent institution for many years.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s operations will officially come to an end on May 3. They say all good things must come to an end, but this one, not too many supporters are ready for. Change can be scary, but we can’t escape change.
Is there another newspaper or media outlet that can replace this company in Oennslyvania? Can there be a podcast or something that can be a fixture in the state of Pennsylvania? It’s very difficult to mention anyone at the moment because some media outlets might be under the radar, or because it’s not as groundbreaking as the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
One thing is for sure: many people will say that no newspaper, podcast, or streaming platform can replace what the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette means to the state of Pennsylvania and the newspaper industry.
