Alicia Keys has had numerous hits and albums on the Billboard charts. Her talent is unparalleled, and her work ethic is extraordinary. Keys is looking to add all of her tools to her new feature-length documentary, Uncharted, which premieres on Paramount+ on October 22.
Keys is a 16-time Grammy winner. It all began with her hit singles from her debut album, Songs in A Minor, which came out in 2001. Ever since 2001, nothing has stopped Keys from achieving success.
As for her new documentary, it debuted at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. It’s a big deal if you have a projected premiere in high-caliber film festivals like Tribeca.
Uncharted goes behind the scenes of Keys’ songwriting camp and highlights how participants at the camp take center stage as they work to achieve their dreams and break through the industry with the next big hit song.
In addition, Keys’s primary goal is to focus on the lack of access and opportunity for young black and brown women.
Beth Aala is the director of the documentary. She is also having success in her career, primarily focusing on directing and producing.
She won two Emmy Awards in 2008 and 2011 for Outstanding Children’s Program for her work as a producer in the program I Have Tourette’s but Tourette’s Doesn’t Have Me.
Aala also directed Made in Boise, which got l nominated for Outstanding Business and Economic Documentary. The project came out in 2019. Aala also won the Peacock Award for co-producing The Music in Me.
As we can see, Keys and the executive producers of this project chose Aala to direct the documentary. Her resume is impressive.
Surprisingly, Amazon Prime or Netflix didn’t pick up the documentary, but Paramount came out as the big winner, knocking it out of the ballpark.
