At the start of the match, Humbert had the edge over Alvarez by getting into the right spots and connecting.
For a moment, especially in the second set, it looked like Alcaraz would take over the rest of the match because he was phenomenal in that set. He was fast, steady, and had an answer for everything Humbert was throwing at him.
Alcaraz’s confidence kept growing. Anyone watching the match would think he was going to dominate the rest of the way, but Humbert had other thoughts.
The third match was the best match of the game. Both men were going back and forth. Humbert’s adjustment near the end of the third set earned him those last two points after him and Alcaraz were tied with the score of 5-5.
Humbert played brilliantly, especially in the first and third matches. He dictated the game and earned the win.
Alcaraz is an extraordinarily talented tennis player, but in this match, he looked passive. He must work on getting through the early round and be more aggressive. That’s how you set the tone. There’s always room for improvement.
Humbert has the potential to be a top 5 tennis player. If he continues attacking and focusing on his strength, anything is possible.
