The wildfires have dominated the headlines and pushed back many award shows and events. The Grammy Awards are still in session and ready to go for February 2. They will take place at the Crypto.com arena.
The Grammys have had struggles in the last several years hosting their events. It is the third time in the previous five years that issues surrounding the world have impacted the Grammy’s broadcasting event. It all started with Covid-19.
Although the Grammys will still host their event on the respective date, it is still possible that the event could be postponed if the wildfires continue to spread.
Regarding artist nominations, it is no surprise that singer Beyonce leads the nominations with 11.
Universal Music Group Pulls The Plug
Universal Music Group made the difficult decision to cancel its Grammy events. The company will instead focus on sending money to the Los Angeles wildfire relief.
Many people have lost their homes, and the company is one of many big-time entertainment companies that donate money to help those who have lost everything.
Kirk Franklin To Be Honored
Veteran gospel singer Kirk Franklin will receive the Black Music Icon Award at the 2025 Recording Academy Honors.
Franklin has won the Grammy about twenty times throughout his career. His journey to Gospel music began when he was about four years old when he began to play the piano. By the time he was eleven, he started to direct choirs.
Franklin has delivered many great hits throughout his career and sold millions of records. One of his best albums, Kirk Franklin and the Family, significantly impacted the Gospel genre.
The Weeknd Cancels Album Release Show
It’s not the kind of news that The Weeknd fans wanted to hear. The R&B sensation canceled his album release show, which was originally scheduled for January 25 at the Rose Bowl.
His third trilogy album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, is one of the year’s most anticipated albums and undoubtedly of his career. The Hurry Up Tomorrow album is the follow-up to his previous two albums: After Hours (2020) and Damn FM (2022).
