Jalen Brunson had an unstoppable night. He scored 44 points in 30 minutes against the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Knicks won in command 140-106.
Brunson dominated the paint. He did whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. Bucks’ defense had no answer for Brunson.
Bucks Coach Doc Rivers let this game get out of hand quickly. Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton needed more effort.
Karl Anthony Towns had a string game. Towns finished with 30 points, 18 rebounds and four assists. Towns did a lot of punishment in the second quarter.
Cameron Payne had a good second quarter as well. He couldn’t miss from the three-point line. He made three of four three-point attempts. Payne finished the game with 18 points off the bench. He’s been an enormous addition to the Knicks.
Despite the victory, the Knicks still need more production from their bench. They need a solid, prominent man from the bench. The Knicks also need to take advantage and beat elite teams.
On paper, the Knicks are an outstanding team, but they need to be more consistent and play more brilliant defense.
Brunson deserves to be an All-Star this season. Sunday’s game against the Bucks solidified to everyone voting that he’s the right choice for the All-Star Game in February.
The Knicks improved their record to 26-14. Their next game will be against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night in Madison Square Garden.
