Beyoncé finally got over the hump and won the Album of the Year award last night at the Grammy Awards.

She won the award for her country album, Cowboy Carter. Beyoncé has received numerous nominations for this category; many believe she’s been snubbed throughout the years. Beyoncé’s win put all of that to rest.

Kendrick Lamar took home five Grammys, including Record of the Year. It’s weird to see a diss record win a Grammy, but it’s even more insane when the crowd sings the song “Not Like Us” when he wins the award. It’s a bad weekend for Drake. The feud is pretty much one-sided at this point.

Chappell Roan won for Best New Artist. Roan went after record labels for taking advantage of artists and being unfair to them. Roan was sending a message loud and clear that Artists, especially new and upcoming ones, should be taken care of or treated better from a financial standpoint.

Sabrina Carpenter won for Best Pop Vocal Album. The Beatles continue to make history, winning a Grammy for Best Rock Performance for their song “Now and Then.” Congratulations to this legendary group.

Alicia Keys received the Global Impact Award, named after Dr. Dre. It was a nice moment to see Keys’ son, who was so proud of her and constantly clapped for her. Keys has had a tremendous career. She rightfully deserved this accolade.

Shakira, a 30-year veteran of the game, took home a Grammy award for Best Latin Pop Album (Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran).

The Grammy Awards highlighted the devastation of the wildfires. The Grammys raised seven million in donations from viewers.
