Idaho video store Pocatello will close after 30 years of service.

Owner David Kraning had to make a tough decision about telling one of his favorite customers that the business would be closing.

Christina Cavanaugh has Down syndrome and is mostly nonverbal. Every night, she eats her dinner and watches movies. She’s been going to the video store for the last twenty years.

“Just looking at the financials at the end of last year, it just wasn’t sustainable,” Kraning said. “This is one of my first jobs I remember back in high school. The mom would bring her daughter to the movies, and it’s been that long.”

Kraning and Christina, as well as Christina’s mom, have formed a long-term customer-employee relationship throughout the years. Dave owns the convenience store next door to the video store. So, inside the store, he decided on a section called “Christina’s Corner.”

Not every owner would have the heart to go out of their way to do something gracious like Dave did, but this shows how much he values and appreciates his loyal customers.
