Oprah Winfrey has made millions of dollars throughout her career by seeking opportunities, meeting the right time, putting her faith in God, and choosing equity over profits.

She stopped by Forbes for an uplifting, inspiring interview that any entrepreneur should listen to. Winfrey always believed that you should bet on yourself and be optimistic. An entrepreneur should always be a step ahead and surround themselves with the smartest people.

“I’ve always believed in God’s dream for me,” Winfrey said. “I believe that there was something bigger than my own life.

Winfrey grew up with her grandmother. She went through a lot in her life. If you read books or watched videos about Oprah’s humble beginnings before she became famous, then you would understand her drive, passion, and perseverance. Winfrey is also very competitive, especially when it comes to losing Emmy Awards.

“It is so meaningful to be part of something that acknowledges,” Winfrey said. “I’ve gotten a lot of awards. At one point, I stopped going to the Emmys because the year Montel Williams won, I knew I should have won. The year Joan Rivers won, I knew I should have won. I said to myself, ‘I’m not doing this anymore because I know we’re the best.’ We have the standard that we are the best.”

Winfrey was inspired by many people who came before her, and one of those was actor Sidney Poitier. Seeing Poitier win an Oscar for Best Actor in 1964 stoked Oprah’s fire because it made her think anything was possible for her.

Second chances are something that human beings should take advantage of. Winfrey understands from the beginning to never get too comfortable with success and money. She felt that she belonged in any space or job market. She knew her worth and always kept in mind those who believed in her intelligence and work ethic.

“When I walk into a space, I’m not walking into a space by myself,” Winfrey said. “I’m walking into that space with everybody who’s prayed me up.”
