Two-time Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett plans to retire from acting.
Blanchett seems dead serious about this decision, but there are some people in her circle, such as her family, who don’t really buy into her story.
“My family rolls their eyes every time I say it, but I mean it. I am serious about giving up acting,” she told the publication this week ahead of her role in a new audio drama for the BBC.
Blanchett began her career on stage and graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in the early 1990s. That’s how long she’s been doing this.
Throughout her career, Blanchett has won numerous accolades. She has two Oscars, four Golden Globes, four BAFTAs, and three SAG awards. She has also received two Primetime Emmy nominations and a Tony Award nomination (Anton Chekhov’s Platanov), which marked her Broadway debut.
Blanchett’s first Oscar was for best supporting actress in “The Aviator. ” Nine years later, she won Best Lead Actress for her role in “Blue Jshe.” Her latest performance, Tar, earned her an Oscar nomination in 2022.
According to Business Insider, during the interview, Blanchett touched on her “dislike for being a celebrity and constantly doing interviews to promote whichever project she’s working on at the time.”
“When you go on a talk show, or even here now, and then you see soundbites of things you’ve said, pulled out and italicized, they sound really… loud. I’m not that person,” said Blanchett, who is also known for roles in “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Elizabeth.”
Jim Carrey. Cameron Diaz and Daniel Day-Lewis are some actors from the past who have retired from acting or have stepped away from Hollywood for quite some time.
We don’t know if Blanchett will retire for good or whether she will be out of the game for quite some time and then make a comeback. She will retire for a couple of years and make a comeback with a strong performance because her acting skills are top-notch. That’s the prediction.
