The Florida Panthers secured a 5-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, taking an early lead in the series. The game at Lenovo Center in Raleigh saw Florida’s depth and special teams shine as they capitalized on key moments.
First Period: Florida Sets the Tone
The Panthers wasted no time asserting themselves, scoring twice in the opening period. Carter Verhaeghe opened the scoring on a power play, lifting a backhand shot past Frederik Andersen. Shortly after, Aaron Ekblad doubled the lead with a well-placed shot from the left circle, giving Florida a 2-0 advantage.
