It’s Day One of the Men’s Baseball College World Series. The No. 21 Arizona Wildcats will play against No. 13 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers today at 2 pm EST at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.
It’s one of the most exciting matchups of the day. These two teams last met back in the 2016 College World Series, which the Chanticleers won 2 out of 3 to capture the championship. The 2016 title is the first and only one in their program history.
Wildcats sophomore right-hander Owen Kramkowski (9-6, 5.48 ERA) will take the mound against right-hander Riley Eikhoff (6-2, 2.90 ERA).
Kramkowski received All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors this season.
The Wildcats won 44 games this season and beat a very good North Carolina Tar Heels team at the Super Regionals.
Historically, the Wildcats have been successful in championship series. Since 1999, they have advanced to five College World Series.
However, the Chanticleers might have something to say about that.
The Chanticleers have been an underrated team, winning 53 games this season. Coastal Carolina is an experienced team that plays the game very intelligently. They’re one of those teams that got overshadowed by Tennessee, LSU, and many others.
The Chanticleers are entering this game on a 23-game winning streak.
The winner of Arizona/Coastal Carolina will face the winner of Oregon State/Louisville on Sunday at 6 p.m. EST.
However, the loser of Coastal Carolina-Arizona will play the loser of Oregon State-Louisville on Sunday at 2 p.m. EST.
Arizona and Coastal Carolina’s Friday game will be televised by ESPN. Carl Ravech and Eduardo Perez will call the game in the booth.
Prediction: Coastal Carolina wins 6-5.
