Carlos Alcaraz extends his Wimbledon winning streak to 18 in a row after defeating Andrev Rublev (7-6, 3-6, 4-6, 4-6).

Alcaraz advances to the quarter-finals for the third year in a row. Alcaraz ties fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal with the third-most match wins (75) in his first 18 Grand Slams in the Open Era. He will face Cameron Norrie next.

Alcaraz continues to demonstrate to the world why he’s one of the best players on the court today. He’s aggressive, hustles on every possession, and plays the game with so much flare and passion. Alcaraz is a player who is very likable and finds a way to make tennis fans want to tune in to watch him play.

It’s fantastic that he’s accomplishing so much before even turning 25. Ever since defeating Jannik Sinner at the Italian Open, he gained a massive amount of momentum, as he had been struggling in the previous tournaments at the beginning of the year.

Alcaraz and Rublev put on an excellent show for the audience, but Alcaraz was very strategic and let the game come to him. He stayed poise after the first set and made some adjustments, and those adjustments allowed him to move on to the following round.

As for Rublev, he will be back. He’s a terrific tennis player, and what was classy about Rublev is that he took the time to take pictures with the fans after the defeat. He was gracious enough to do that, and that’s something to respect about any athlete.

Rublev is an aggressive and assertive tennis player. He will learn from this experience. Alcaraz is the No. 2 player in the ATP rankings. Alcaraz is seeking his third Wimbledon title.
