Electronic Arts will go private in a $55 billion all-cash buyout led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners.
It is the largest leveraged buyout on record. EA has been one of Silicon Valley’s longest running gaming companies. What EA has done throughout the years has been nothing short of spectacular.
It all began in 1982, when Trip Hawkins, a former Apple marketing director, founded the company. EA Sports is best known for its marquee sports titles, including Madden, FIFA, and now FC.
Hawkins is a genius and very competitive. He goes to great lengths to ensure his company thrives and achieves success.
Although EA has experienced many years of success, like any company, it has also experienced its peaks and valleys. In early 2025, EA suffered a 17-year record stock drop after the company warned of a shortfall in annual net bookings.
Who knows? The acquisition by Kushner and Silver Lake can help turn things around.
