Seattle Seahawks defense came up big time against the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl, 29-13. Running back Kenneth Walker III was named Super Bowl MVP.
This is one of those Super Bowls where we wish more than one player could receive the MVP. The entire Seahawks defense is an MVP as well. It is one of the best defensive performances in Super Bowl history. The Seahawks had six sacks, two forced fumbles (one for a touchdown), and an interception.
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye had a stellar season. He took this team to the Super Bowl in his second season in the NFL. Maye is growing up fast, and he will be an elite quarterback for years to come. In this game, the Seahawks defense got to him. The frustration was there. The Seahawks’ defense was big, strong, and fast. There’s nothing you could do but give them credit.
How about Sam Darnold? His journey in the NFL has been inspiring. After making stops with the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, and Minnesota Vikings, he is now a Super Bowl-winning quarterback with the Seahawks. No one can take it away from him. Darnold finished the game, completing 19 of his 38 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown.
Walker III is one of the most grifted running backs in the NFL. He was a standout college player for the Michigan State Spartans. Walker III becomes the first running back since Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis to win Super Bowl MVP honors. Walker ran for 135 yards. It’s a special victory for Walker because his dad never saw a live game until the Super Bowl. It’s a moment that will forever be in the mind of the Walker family.
What’s next for the Seahawks? The parade. Seattle fans waited so many years for another championship, and now they got one.
Given how the Seahawks look right now, they should be able to compete next season. It’s not easy to repeat or make it back to the Super Bowl. We will wait and see what happens during the off-season and how next season will play out.
