Bridesmaids is one of those unforgettable movies that you must go back and rewatch. It’s one of the best comedy movies of the last 20 years or the 21st century.

Paul Feig directed the movie. Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo wrote the script together, and Wiig is also the lead actress in the movie. The cast is great, featuring Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper, Chris O’Dowd, and guest appearances by Jon Hamm and Rebel Wilson.

Some of the best scenes in the movie are the food poisoning scene, Annie and Megan’s tough-love scene, Annie’s meltdown at Lillian’s bridal shower, and the airplane scene.

McCarthy shared her memories of auditioning for the movie on the Howard Stern Show. The interview aired back in 2014.

“Annie Mumolo, who wrote the script with Kristen, actually called and said, ‘ Will you come in tomorrow and I was like, ‘ Oh yeah,” McCarthy said. “They sent me the pages, and I came in to improvise with Kristen. We’ve known each other for so long that once we would start the script and then either she would float or I would kind of float away, and then the next thing we’re talking about is sex with the dolphin.”

McCarthy played the character of Megan. Her best scene in the movie is when he shows tough love to Annie Walker and tries to tell her to stop feeling sorry for herself. Megan told her about the tough times she went through when she was younger and used her bullying experiences to lift herself. That scene itself earned her an Oscar nomination for supporting actress. Megan’s character is bold and brash. There was a lot of improvising in the movie, and it definitely shows if you watch it multiple times.

Wiig and Byrne reunited after 15 years to discuss the movie’s impact and share their thoughts. One of the things they talked about was their sing-off scene.

“We just went off the books,” Wiig said. “Paul was like, ‘Just keep going.’ That, to me, was a very sort of gelling scene, where I was like, okay, and even just for me, it was my first, like, big part of the movie. I felt a little more comfortable after that scene.”
