Cancer is a deadly disease. We don’t wish it on anyone. To survive cancer, you have to be tough. It’s not a solo journey, this requires support. Don Omar, one of the greatest Reggeaton Artists of all time, has revealed that he’s been diagnosed with cancer.
First, we heard about the Bachata singer Hector “El Torito” Acosta being diagnosed with cancer and now we got hit with another news. The similarity is that both men are great and successful artists. However, none of us can’t escape from any illness or sickness.
Don Omar made the announcement on social media about his health situation. He has not disclosed what type of cancer he has and the kind of treatment he’s receiving.
Don Omar is scheduled to be on tour which is called “Back to Reggeaton” but I highly doubt that he will go through with this unless contracts are already put in place. Health is and should be the main priority at the moment.
Don Omar means a lot to the Reggeaton genre. One of the best to ever do it alongside Daddy Yankee, his former rival. He has won numerous awards like the Latin Grammys. He has released eight studio albums. His first studio album, The Last Don, was one of the albums that set the tone for Reggeaton and helped popularize the genre worldwide. He had many great singles on that album such as “Dale Don Dale, Aunque Te Fuiste, Dile,” etc.
Don Omar has also portrayed Rico Santos in four films in the Fast and Furious franchise alongside Tego Calderon. Their scenes and chemistry together are epic and brilliant. We wish Don Omar a speedy recovery and to fight this disease like a champ.
