The Wayans Bros are back to do a reboot of the classic The Scary Movie.
The Wayans family and Rick Alvarez are writing and producing the new movie. The last Scary Movie project was 18 years ago.
Alvarez has collaborated with one family member of the Wayans, Marlon Wayans. Alvarez wrote Fifty Shades of Black, Sextuplets, and Naked, all of which feature Marlon as the lead actor.
The Wayans Brothers (Keenan Ivory Wayans, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans) created and developed Scary Movie. Keenan directed the first two movies, and Shawn and Marlon starred in both.
The studios decided to part ways with them after Scary Movie 2, and the franchise was never the same without the brothers.
Scary Movie 1 made $278 million at the box office. The first movie was one of the highest-grossing R-rated horror movies of all time back in the day.
Scary Movie 2 made $141.2 million at the box office worldwide on a $45 budget.
Both movies have parodies of films: The Haunting, Stigmata, The Exorcist, Halloween, Friday The 13th, The Blair Witch Project, Poltergeist, The Legend of Hell House, What Lies Beneath, Charlie’s Angels, Hannibal, Hollow Man, many more.
