Joey Logano wins the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series championship at Phoenix Raceway. It’s Logano’s third NASCAR title.

Logano defeated teammate and defending champion Ryan Blaney and Christopher Bell to take first place.

Logano’s third championship puts him on the list with Lee Petty, David Pearson, Cale Yarbrough, Darrell Waltrip, and Tony Stewart.

He can win more championships and join a bigger list with Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, and Jeff Gordon, who have won more than three titles. It’s possible since Logano is just 34 years old.

Logano spoke with the media after the race and expressed the difficulty of winning, especially in a sport with many great drivers.

“I don’t know how to put in words how hard it is,” Logano said. “I think anyone listening that has probably done anything in professional sports understands it probably as good as anybody that you put the best of the best at their profession doing this the same thing with one common goal and the competition is always trying to get better. Everybody wants to win; it just gets harder and harder. The field gets closer and closer every year. It’s tough. It’s hard to find an advantage.”

Team Penske is all about winning. That’s their culture. Logano owes a lot of gratitude to the team, and this championship feels much sweeter than the others.

“Winning together means more than ever to me,” Logano said. “It makes this championship one of the most special ones is that you have that relationship with everyone a little bit more.”

Logano thrives under pressure. It’s uncomfortable, but it seems to work out for him. He’s been through high-pressure situations, and he’s standing on top of the NASCAR world once again.

In addition to winning the championship, Logano’s successful season included four wins, second place in the NASCAR Cup Series, and winning the All-Star race.

Team Penske has gone back-to-back, first with Blaney and now with Logano. No other driving team has done this since Hendrix from 2009-2010.
