Oklahoma Sooners tried to win but failed to complete the 2-point conversion. Navy Midshipmen held on to beat the Sooners 21-20 and win the Armed Forces Bowl on Friday.
Midshipmen quarterback Blake Horvath set a record for the Midshipmen with a 95-yard touchdown run and then scored a 6-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Midshipmen came from behind after trailing 14-0 in this game.
The Midshipmen outscored the Sooners 21-6 for the remainder of the game. Sooners quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr passed the ball to Jake Robert to make it a 21-20 game with six seconds left to go.
Instead of kicking the extra point, the Sooners went for the win, but the Midshipmen’s defense came up big time to make a stop and won the game. Justin Reed made the play by sacking Hawkins.
The Midshipmen (10-3) reached 10 wins for the sixth time. Their last winning season was 2019, which was their last 10-win season. The team picked up a big win two weeks ago against their rival, Army.
