UNC Tar Heels dominated Virginia Tech Hokies 91-59. It’s their sixth win in a row. The Tar Heels earned their 20th victory of the season, and it’s their fourth consecutive year in a row where they reach 20 wins under coach Hubert Davis.

UNC closed the first half on a 25-6 run. Tar Heels scored 15 of the last 16 points in the first half.

Ian Jackson returned to being Ian Jackson. He had a strong performance, hitting five three-pointers and finishing the game with 19 points. Carolina shot a season-high 15 three-pointers.

Ven-Allen Lubin recorded a double-double, his first one as a member of the Tar Heels. Elliot Cadeau had 12 assists in 24 minutes. Seth Trimble added 17 points off the bench.

The UNC offense couldn’t be stopped. Virginia Tech had a long night on defense, trying to slow down the Tar Heels, but it was a long shot.

Tar Heels took the soul out of Hokies. It was deflating and demoralizing.

In the last few weeks, Carolina has played a game of runs. It’s fantastic. They are maximizing their opportunities on offense. People might be critical of the kind of opponents they are playing, but the reality is that they have to take advantage of these wins x

In addition, this is a different Tar Heels team. We have never seen them play this well or consistently earlier in the season.

If Carolina can somehow beat Duke on Saturday night, the conversation will get serious about this team’s getting hit at the right time.

Duke versus North Carolina will be played in Chapel Hill at 6 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN.
