The return to where it all began. Atlanta Falcons hire Matt Ryan as the new president of football operations.
Ryan played 14 of his 15 seasons as the quarterback for the Falcons. His best season came in 2016. Ryan had 38 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, completing 69 percent of his passes.
The Falcons came very close to winning the Super Bowl but squandered a 25-point lead to the New England Patriots. It was a crushing defeat for the Falcons. The team never recovered. As for Ryan, he ended up winning the NFL MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and First Team All-Pro.
After his playing career, the 40-year-old began his career as an NFL analyst for CBs Sports. On Sunday, he gave a heartfelt goodbye to the crew and thanked them for the opportunity. He showed tremendous class and almost got emotional while delivering his speech.
The Falcons still have a lot of work to do. The franchise recently fired its head coach. Ryan is stepping into a role where a lot will be expected from him, and Falcons fans are hoping that he can make the right decisions to lead the organization to the promised land.
Ryan has never been afraid of any challenges. He’s looking forward to coming back home and helping the Falcons succeed in any way, shape, or form. He didn’t win a championship as a player, but there’s unfinished business in his mind. Ryan would love to win a ring as an executive.
Matt finished his career with 31 touchdowns and 67,792 passing yards in 234 games. He’s a 4x Pro Bowl selection and has had at least three seasons with 30 or more touchdowns. Ryan is part of the Falcons Ring of Honor.
