The Washington Wizards will take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.

The Wizards are trying to snap a nine-game losing streak. Washington will open up a five-game homestand. They’re coming into the game after losing to the Charlotte Hornets, 119-115, on Saturday at Spectrum Center. Brandon Miller led the Hornets with 21 points. LaMelo Ball added 20 points.

Tre Johnson had a game-high and career-high 26 points and six assists.

The previous meeting between the Wizards and Blazers was on March 17, 2025. The Blazers won the contest 112-97. Anfernee Simons, who was with the Blazers at the time, scored 30 points. Shaedon Sharpe added 16. Donovan Clingan posted a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Alex Sarr led the Wizards with 20’points. The Wizards committed 16 turnovers in that game. Portland has won the last three meetings between the two teams. The Wizards are trying to stop the bleeding by ending two losing streaks. Washington’s previous victory against Portland came on December 21, 2023, with a 118-117 result.

The Wizards are a very young team. The rebuilding process has been intact for years now. They’re one of the teams that’s always active when it comes to the trade deadline. It wouldn’t be a surprise if they try to move someone like a veteran player, such as Khris Middleton.

One of the most significant acquisitions of the season was getting Trae Young in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks. The Wizards are hoping Young can be the start of something better for the organization. However, nothing is guaranteed.

The Wizards’ primary focus right now is to try to win Tuesday’s game. The Blazers have a young core that can play, score baskets, and share the ball effectively. The Wizards must set the tone from the start and avoid turnovers. In addition, they can’t rely too much on the three-point shooting. Attacking the rim and getting second-chance points will be critical for them.

Johnson must replicate the same performance he had on Saturday or be three times better. The Wizards will need at least four players in double figures and make at least 85 percent of their free throws.

The Wizards have a 10-34 record. It’s been a season full of disappointments. However, on Tuesday night, the fans will cherish an impressive victory to kick off the homestand. It’s all about doing the little things and making the proper adjustments. We should expect another close game, but with the Wizards finally getting a victory.
