The Actor Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, streamed live on Netflix on Sunday. Catherine O’Hara won for best female actor in a comedy series for her role on “The Studio.”

When her name was announced, there was a standing ovation. Emotions were shown in the room. O’Hara passed away on January 30 in Santa Monica, California. O’Hara was 71. The cause of her death was a pulmonary embolism with rectal cancer.

Seth Rogen. co-creator of the show and lead actor, accepted the award on her behalf. Rogen portrays the role of mogul Matt Remnick. O’Hara played as Patty Leigh, a former Hollywood studio chief. Rogen and O’Hara shared many scenes in the series.

“I know she would have been honored to receive the award from fellow performers”, Rogen said. “I obviously, you know, have been reflecting on the time I was fortunate enough to spend with her, working with her. Something I’ve just been marveling at these past few weeks is really her ability to be generous, kind, and gracious while never, ever minimizing her own talents. She knew she could destroy, and she wanted to destroy every day on set.”

O’Hara is known for unforgettable performances in Beetlejuice, Home Alone, Second City Television, and Schitt’s Creek. Aside from The Studio, O’Hara was also great in HBO’s The Last of Us. O’Hara was a beloved figure in the industry. Her presence is greatly missed, especially by those who have worked with her.

As bittersweet as it was not to have her holding the trophy, The Studio is proud that the award will be in the home of her family. In addition, the show won best ensemble in a comedy series.

O’Hara was married to her husband, and together they had two sons. May God bless their family, and hopefully, they continue to find the strength to get through each day.
